By now many of you may have heard the news about the avalanche in Colorado that occurred Saturday April 20th, near Loveland Pass. Sadly we lost one of our own in this tragic accident. Joe Timlin was the YES, NOW, and Jones Snowboards rep for the Rocky Mountain region. But more importantly, he was family. Brother-in-law to DCP and Megan, and a close friend to many in the Colorado wintersports community, Joe was a bright, dynamic person who will be sorely missed. Everyone here at Nidecker USA considers Joe and his wife Krissy to be extended family of ours, and we are devastated by this terrible loss. Memorial information will be provided once we hear more details from Joe’s family.
Our hearts and prayers go out to all the victims and their families. As we all begin the process of picking up the pieces, it’s important to remember that life is precious and family is everything. Please play safe.

There are a lot of snowboard shops out there in the world. What makes your shop different?
WE ARE DIFFERENT BECAUSE I THINK WE LEAD AND NOT FOLLOW.
CONSUMERS ARE CHANGING, WHERE THEY WANT TO SPEND THEIR MONEY, WHO THEY ARE ACTUALLY SUPPORTING, PEOPLE WANT TO SUPPORT AND BE PART OF SOMETHING REAL.
There are also a lot of snowboard brands out there. Why does your shop carry YES?.
WE CARRY YES, BECAUSE THE WHOLE TEAM IS PART OF OUR EXTENDED SNOWBOARDING FAMILY, THEY ARE PART OF THE CIRCLE, AND ALWAYS MAKE SURE TO COME IN AND HANG AT THE STORE WHILE THEY ARE IN TOWN. IT MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE THAT A CONSUMER KNOWS THAT THEY ALL CARE ABOUT THEIR BRAND THIS MUCH. WE CAN STAND BEHIND THE PRODUCT, IT HELPS THAT TWO OF OUR TEAM RIDERS ON THE TEAM AS WELL, MIKEY PEDERSON AND HELEN SCHETTINI.
What models do you carry and what is the favorite amongst your staff?
WE CARRY EVEYTHING IN THE LINE AND MAKE SURE WE HAVE EVERYTHING IN STOCK, AVAILABLE WELL INTO MARCH, AS OUR SEASON LASTS A LOT LONGER THAN OTHER AREAS. OUR FAVOURITES WOULD BE THE GREATS, PICK YOUR LINE, AND THE BASIC.
How many days does your staff ride in a season? 50-70 days, more if possible, all depends on the roll that staff member plays on our team and current workload.
I WOULD SAY EVERYONE RIDES OVER 70 DAYS A SEASON, SOME OF OUR STAFF HAVE GOTTEN INTO SPLIT BOARDING, AND NOT BUYING SEASONS PASSES TO AVOID THE CROWDS AND GET BACK TO THE SOUL OF OUR SPORT.
Local events your shop is supporting or putting together for this season.
WE HAVE IN STORE SIGNINGS, A FEW UNDERGROUND RAIL EVENTS WITH SOME OF OUR OTHER BRANDS. WE WOULD LOVE TO HAVE THE FINANCIALS TO DO OUR OWN BIG EVENT HERE IN WHISTLER, OR NEAR WITH REAL SPONSORS AND REALLY MAKE IT OUR OWN EVENT FOR ALL THE RIDERS AND COMPANIES WE HAVE BEEN INVOLVED WITH OVER THE YEARS.
Staff Shout Out.
EVERYONE HELPS MAKE THE CIRCLE, THE CIRCLE. ALL THE STAFF, INCLUDING THE STAFF’S FRIENDS AND ALL OF OUR CUSTOMERS HELP KEEP THE STORE REAL.
If you could take your staff on a dream trip, where would it be and why?

YES. Snowboard is stoked to officially announce Austen Sweetin joining the team.
An all-round freak that can blow minds on rails and urban features one day and send it with the best of them in the backcountry the next, Austen is a welcome addition to the heavy crew of snowboard legends that make up the YES. Family.
Co-owner and aforementioned legend Romain De Marchi states; “I’m really proud and happy to welcome him in the YES. family. Austen’s a perfect fit to our vision of snowboarding and a great rider that will carry our movement in the future to come. Yes.’s time is now.
The vetting process was pretty easy. Approved by Frank April and the owners and a quick reference from Peter Line himself; “Austen’s sick. All around rider and LOVES snowboarding to death, which in my eyes is more important than anything.”

YES: There are a lot of snowboard shops out there in the world. What makes your shop different? US Outdoor: Three main reasons: Our customers, people in the NW love to snowboard and love to learn and talk about; it really makes our jobs fun so we look forward to coming to work everyday. We are a one location family owned shop with the inventory that rivals a large chain but the selection and brands of a core shop. The most knowledgeable staff with a passion for snowboarding.
YES: There are also a lot of snowboard brands out there. Why does your shop carry YES? US Outdoor: Yes as a brand is a lot like our shop its rider owned and they’re making boards because they have a passion for snowboarding. Whether it be by providing customer boot fitting, sharing knowledge about the latest products or the huge array of innovative and specialty brands not found in every box, mall chain and Costco.
YES: There are also a lot of snowboard brands out there. Why does your shop carry YES? BOARDROOM: Because YES is doing it right. Building high quality, innovative products that work amazing. Chile’s capital , Santiago, rests at the bottom of 60 switchbacks carved into the Andes Mountains winding up to Valle Nevado . To the west, the beautiful rugged coast, is only a couple hours away where Sea Wolves share waves with avid surfers. This time of the year, bigger boards are a must.
Chile is one of my favorite places to travel to. I love the culture, the language, the people, the mountains and the waves . So this summer (South Americas’ winter) I decided to take one more trip to Chile for a little bit of boarding! It was amazing. I rode great pow, hiked a bunch, got to Heli 1 day with the Mekis Brothers, our south American Yes distributers and dear friends. It seemed natural that with the new movie in the can we treat the locals to a showing.
The event started with a skate Jam with a few kids at bowl park right in the hearth of Malls Sport at the bottom of the switch backs. Kids were going off – there’s so many good skaters in this town!
Then we invited everyone in to join us for a Corona and some food from BBB, burgers and empanadas. Buena Onda! Everyone seemed to enjoy that part a lot, and they were able to check out the yes catalogues and boards on display as well as buying raffle tickets to win prizes for our fundraisers. This year the fundraising was for the building of a new skate-ramp at Buchupureo, a few hours south of the Capital. This is part of what the Mekis do; they build ramps around the nation and teach kids to skate. In fact, the premier was hosted at their own bowl park. Also, we gave a framed picture recognition present to Claudio Dre , a graffiti artist that painted all the walls around the park. We foreran our movie with a little clip of him painting the park followed by Jeremy Jones’ new adventure Further.
Many people showed up including various snowboard teams from North America and Europe. Billabong team including Eero Niemala, Jamie Anderson, Helen Schettini (YES rider) as well as guys like skater Spiro Razis, Shane Polpisil ,gabe langlois , Kohl Christiensen even popped in for a few and Sharon and all the compadres I met the last 3 weeks . It was awesome.!
Gracias amigos para venir !
It was also my first time watching the movie and I was thrilled to share the excitement with my new friends from Chile that have been so generous and welcoming. It was a treat to share with them our yearly newest project .
Man the movie is good…Good music and well done, Thanks to Paul Watt , timmy tim tim and Dustin Ortiz, as well as the whole YES team.
Coronas were flying, Carlos de Spy Optics was capturing the moment. I even got to meet Miss Chile 2012 Camilla Recabarren , gave her a Yes shirt.
People screamed when the CHILE section came in, it was great! Good thing we just had a week of pow up in the mountain cause the new flick defiantly makes you wanna ride pow a lot …nothing wrong with this!
The party continued downtown with surfusidos.com crew and had the privilege to listen to some unique Chilean reggae with the most amazing female singer and chorus. When they played a Marley song, it was all over …party was on till the early morn!
