Last September, The North Face Crew and I went to southern Chile for a splitboarding adventure. We hiked, splitboarded, camped on the rim of the Puyehue volcano, we had a great time and great lines. This past season YES was invited to the 2011 TransWorld Snowboarding Team Shootout. YES riders, JP Solberg, Romain De Marchi, Helen Schettini, Benji Ritchie, and Mikey Pederson ventured into the Whistler backcountry for some amazing footage that will drop at newsstands September 2011.
The AUS snow season has kicked off ahead of schedule after some early snow falls. And last weekend the 2nd Annual ESS BILLY JAM rail event went down in perfect weather at ESS Erina. YES. rider Etienne Gilbert decided to skip the surf that day, and came up to ESS for a shred. Daniel Crean took first, Dane Tiene took second, and Etienne drew for third with last years winner – Tom Pelley. Not bad for his first shred in 12 months. Congrats Etienne!
This year the Sidewayz Exhibition will be passing all proceeds raised from the sale of the artworks onto two worthy organizations: The Christchurch Earthquake Appeal & the Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief Fund. The affiliation that the board sports community has with the people of these two places is well known. Let’s see if we can’t raise a sh*t load of cash for them!
